Le Voyage sur Jupiter with music by Segundo de Chomn and Xavier Pags-Corella

Other Titles: Voyage à la Planète Jupiter - A Trip to Jupiter - Viaje a Júpiter - Viatge a Júpiter Original silent film of 1907 by Segundo de Chomón (1871-1929) with music composed in 2008 by Xavier Pagès-Corella. The music is composed for a traditional wind ensemble from Catalonia called cobla, which gives to the film a unique sound which fits extremely well to the images. It was premièred in the Castell de Peralada Festival 2008 by the Cobla sant Jordi conducted by the composer. Argument: A medieval king receives an astronomy lesson which will make him have a fantastic dream. He will climb a ladder passing through all the planets from where some strange people greets him. At the end of the ladder he arrives to Jupiter where he is not very well received and he is expulsed of the planet. The falling is fast and finally he wakes up when he arrives to his bed and collisions with one of his servants. You can see a video with a musical score at the following
