Yemenis take the street of the capital Sanaa protesting in solidarity with Gaza. The Iranian-backed Houthis carrying out attacks in the Red Sea are ready for a “long-term confrontation” with Britain and America, its commander has warned. Mohamed al-Atifi did not elaborate on how long the conflict might last, although British and American military chiefs and ministers believe the attacks on shipping will carry on for as long as the war in Gaza continues. “We are prepared for a long-term confrontation with the forces of tyranny. The Americans, the British, and those who co-ordinated with them must realise the power of the sovereign Yemeni decision and that there is no debate or dispute over it,” said al-Atifi, the Houthi defence minister, in a statement on Tuesday.
