This video lets you see a different aspect of a doctor's life. For the past 5 weeks, I've been working in the ICU, facing so much death and so many grieving families... at times it has been incredibly difficult. There often isn't time to process your emotions during the day while you are working and these experiences can build up. The question becomes: how do you process these experiences in a healthy way? I believe this happens on many levels. First is at the level of the team, with debriefing and discussions. In the ICU we actually do some formal sessions after challenging codes (when a patient's heart stops or they stop breathing) with all the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and students. Then it's important to figure out what works best for you - do you process thoughts through journaling? exercising? blogging? Personally I find talking to trusted friends, family and colleagues is the best way for me to process my thoughts and emotions. I want this vid
