I hope you enjoy this performance of the Cat Duet, which Adrienne and I sang during our joint concert in 2012 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Maryland. 😁🤩💫 Singers: Chichi (Chinwe) Enu Adrienne Ivey Pianist: Michael Langlois Page Turner: Wes Hunter Director: Carmen Balthrop Composer: attributed to Giaochino Rossini (1792 - 1868), likely compiled by Robert Lucas Pearsall (1795 - 1856) Behind the scenes: The great diva Carmen Balthrop, may she rest in peace, who was my voice teacher at the time, directed this performance. I don’t remember whether she gave us suggestion to interpret the duet as a cat fight, but she was a tremendous help. Her direction helped us make the most out of the performance. Fun fact: Adrienne’s spectacular high note at the end genuinely surprised me. I can’t remember if she sang it at rehearsal but it got me. I was surprised…and jealous! Adrienne is technically a mezzo-soprano and I am a soprano, which means I had a higher voice and should have been able to do what she did. But I could not, at least not in 2012, I had a long, LONG way to go! 😅 😊 Chichi #catduet #rossini #carmenbalthrop #classicalmusic #blackgirlmagic #funnyvideo #operasinger #duettobuffodiduegatti #thecatduet #catsong #catlovers #diva
