When Fidel Castro in 1980 opened the harbor at Mariel, Cuba with the intention of letting some of his people join their relatives in USA. It soon become evident that Castro was forcing the American boat owners to carry back with them not only their relatives but the dregs from his jails. Of the 125,000 refugees that landed in Florida, an estimated 25,000 had criminal records. One of them is Tony “Scarface“ Montana, a ruthless gangster that wants it all and is willing to do almost anything to achieve his goals. Tony is also a man with a strong morale code, he is over protective of his sister Gina (Who he tries to protect from the gangster lifestyle) and he only kills those that truly deserves to die. Famous Mafia director Martin Scorsese who liked the film, said they will hate it in Hollywood. Bauer recalls Scorsese saying to him. “And I said, ’Why?’ And he said, ’Because it’s about them.“
