I would only add that late Soviet Union simply didn’t have much choice (being isolated) but to play along and actually maintain rather relative peaceful and progressive second half of 20th century. And if soviet elites didn’t agree to dissolve the Union in 90s it’d be blamed for stubbornly resisting Globalization, missing out and impeding capitalism. All the youth charmed by rock, jeans & Hollywood would just blame it again as the world Evil & scapegoat. So teaching a lesson by letting people get enslaved by boundless, exploitative & unscrupulous “free market“ was the only choice pretty much, as well as with all the technocratic benefits of course, can’t deny the nice technological breakthrough, which would probably have occurred without slave labor, wars, fearmongering and instilling vanity via various brainwashing. But yeah, communism is a bit of a loaded (with all sorts of connotations) term now, I would propose a global economy of “Special State of Emergency“ ;) For We need to Hype Up life, even if it’s full of deceases, impoverished and lost, For how else will we Propel our Youth, Our Humanity Forward? -.-
