223 Napier Street is a contemporary and modern apartment building, designed by Freadman White for Milieu. The project sees textures carefully combined in a design approach that takes heed of history. Settled within the heritage-rich built environment of Fitzroy, 223 Napier Street is neighboured by buildings from the early to mid-20th century; the ‘modern’ era of design. Presenting a refined perspective that also architecturally acknowledges its surroundings, 223 Napier Street emerges as both a contemporary and modern apartment building. Freadman White uses particular materiality to show the influence of the modern urban context upon the design of 223 Napier Street. The contemporary and modern apartment building consistently features exposed concrete ceilings and sustainable, timber batten front doors which, when contrasted with brass accents, create a robust and rhythmic material palette.
