Donald Trump is one step closer to becoming the Republican Party nominee for President – claiming an easy victory in the South Carolina primary. Nikki Haley failed to cut through, despite being the state's former governor, but has vowed to stay in the race. Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen says the primary was such an “obvious wipeout” that US networks called it for Donald Trump one minute after the polls closed with zero per cent of the votes counted. South Carolina has shifted further right with the state now representing Trump’s core base of support in the US. The campaign will move on to Super Tuesday in which 16 states cast votes on the same day and 50 per cent of the convention delegates are allocated.
