Tucker Carlson is back--and backed by Elon Musk

Whoah! Tucker Carlson suddenly came back today! The popular news host is working with Twitter boss Elon Musk, writes Nury Vittachi. They plan to use social media to recapture the news business from the damaged, distorted western mainstream media system that dominates the sector around the world. Carlson announced the new strategy with a short video on Twitter which makes an important point. The individual facts in a mainstream media report may be correct – but the way they are put together and framed serves to deceive viewers and readers, he said. “At the most basic level the news you consume is a lie: a lie of the stealthiest and most Insidious kind. Facts have been withheld on purpose along with proportion and perspective. You are being manipulated.” This is the exact same point I have made many times. The western media carefully picks issues in my city, Hong Kong, or my country, China. While, the individual facts may be true – the way they are used to create an image of unhappy people in a giant dystopia – is actually the opposite of the truth. But before we cheer him on, we need to consider two facts. Carlson comes from a CIA background and has made many anti-China statements. Does that disqualify him from our support? Not totally, because he’s not really trying to be a serious journalist: he’s a TV presenter who will say whatever will get him the most clicks. And that led to him being the only mainstream US news host to allow the truth about China to be told on air – which is that the US is creating trouble in Asia by destroying Taiwan’s peaceful status quo and militarizing the region. The ultimate point is this: Any shake-up in damaged, malfunctioning mainstream media system has got to be good news. Journalism has been captured and weaponized by the pro-war elite in the west, who rule over 13 per cent of humanity, to mislead people about the rest of the world – the 87% of humanity who have no voice. The majority of people around the world – and I believe in the west, too, are not pro-war. They want the opposite: Peace.
