This video is the parody version to my Science 'Dance Your PhD' 2019 competition entry. This version can be accessed here: Based on the 2012 PhD thesis ‘The identification of therapeutic targets in metastatic melanoma’ by Dr Ken Dutton-Regester, this video pays homage to the 2002 iconic electro-house dance track and accompanying ‘construction’ video ‘Satisfaction’ by Benny Benassi. The original film clip and music score is uniquely suited as a platform for describing the process for those completing a PhD and writing a thesis (or dissertation). High energy, repetitive lyrics, punctuated by consistent thumping beats; perfect symbolism for the monotonous, ‘at times’ repetitive nature of the PhD endeavour while capturing the ever-present ‘stress’ of an impending submission deadline.
