Skybury Farms General Manager Candy MacLaughlin says the challenge “still lies ahead” for farmers following the floods in Far North Queensland. Far North Queensland has begun its massive clean-up after ex-Tropical Cyclone wreaked havoc in the region causing heavy rains and major flooding. “We’re seeing changes to the plants’ condition on a daily basis,” she told Sky News Australia. “The soil is still heavily waterlogged and that’s giving us our challenges. “We still remain optimistic that we will be able to have some level of production but we’re estimating 30 per cent losses at the moment, and it takes a long time for papaya to get up and running again.”
