The Islote or Peñón Peña Blanca and the rock formations of the Punta de Peña Blanca, or also known as the Peñón la Peña Blanca , correspond to a nature sanctuary located between the El Canelo and El Canelillo beaches in the Algarrobo commune , region of Valparaiso , Chile . Due to its natural value, together with its important scenic presence in the imaginary and identity of the inhabitants of the surrounding coastal towns, it was declared a National Monument on March 18, 1982 , under the category of Nature Sanctuary . The islet is an important natural setting in the area. It has a rich ecosystem that allows the concentration of a great diversity of species under the rocks.
