In this video you can hear my rendition of '’s “Fantasia & Fugue in C minor” (BWV 537) played on my Hauptwerk organ. I have chosen to use the sample set of Noordbroek, created by Sonus Paradisi. I have always found especially the Fantasia mind-boggling beautiful and melancholic. I have at times heard it played in full plenum but I have never felt that it needed more than a 8 foot stop together with a tremulant. So that's my registration choice in the first half of the organ work. The second half is all about a stern and highly chromatic fugue. Here my registration is the complete opposite, almost full organ. And in a way it suits the dichotomy the 2 movements hold upon each other. Johann Sebastian Bach composed the Fantasia & Fugue in C minor (BWV 537) during the composer's second period of residence in Weimar. The fantasia starts with the lowest C in the pedal and sets forth an intense mood. Then the first figuration enters with a minor sixth which brings back me
