Here's another band from the Lenin Kosmonol Theatre in Moscow, a band by the name of Araks. Araks started out as a band covering songs from Santana, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, but gradurally grew into making thier own music. They recorded a famous rock opera, The Star and Death of Joaquin Murietta, as well as recording on radio, television, and appearing in numerous soviet films. Possibly the closest sounding band to mid 80s Queen that could come out from the USSR. Unfortunately their story came to an abrupt end when Valeriy Andreev, the director of the band, was charged with embezzlement fraud, turning in his favour 1,500 rubles belonging to the state. The equipment was confiscated and the band was broken up by the Ministry of Culture. Later various group members went onto organizing a replacement group c
