Police have searched the home of a former lumberjack as they continue to investigate the felling of the iconic Sycamore Gap tree in Northumberland. The 69-year-old man has been arrested and questioned on suspicion of causing criminal damage, but he has denied any involvement. The Sycamore Gap tree was one of the most photographed trees in the UK and was made famous by its appearance in the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. It was felled overnight on Wednesday 28 September, and police believe it was a deliberate act of vandalism.
