Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke to US media this morning, revealing he will this evening present his staff and ministers within his government and war cabinet with operational plans for the ground invasion of Rafah. At the same time, he says there will be what he’s called an evacuation plan for the Palestinians, who are seeking refuge in Gaza’s southernmost city. We are talking about nearly 1.5 million Palestinians who have been forced to flee their homes multiple times and ended up in Rafah. The Israeli prime minister is also saying that if there is a deal … the ground invasion will be delayed. But if there isn’t a deal, it’s going to happen. Nonetheless, the ground invasion by the Israeli military into Rafah will happen. He says it’s necessary in order to achieve a total victory. Additionally, they’re going to be talking about a potential deal to bring back the captives. Again, there is no indication that we are heading in a direction that sees a deal within sight.
