Born in Los Angeles on December 19, 1980 to a screen writer mother and a director father, and welcomed by Maggie his big sister actress, Jake Gyllenhaal started out as a child actor with the film “City Slickers“ when he was 11, training at the Young Actors Studio while his regular schooling led him to Harvard Westlake and Columbia University. He later on went on to work with Penny Allen, the acting coach that his brother-in-law Peter Sarsgaard’ recommended. His filmography includes “Donnie Darko”, “Brokeback Mountain”, “Nightcrawler“, “Prisoners“, “Southpaw”, “Stronger“, “End Of Watch”, “Source Code”, “JarHead”, “Brothers”, etc… On top of Nine Stories Productions his production company, Jake Gyllenhaal has also lent his talent to the stage with plays like “Constellations”, “This Is Our Youth”, “Sea Wall/A Life”, and, renewed with singing, his first artistic passion with musicals like “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Sunday In The Park With George”, etc...
