A diplomatic cable previously cited by former Pakistan PM Imran Khan as proof of US involvement in his ouster has finally come to the fore. Quoting the infamous “cypher”, The Intercept reports that the US state department nudged Pakistan to remove Khan from power. The classified Pakistani govt cable documents a March 7, 2022, meeting between the Pakistan envoy to the US and two State Department officials. The US officials conveyed Washington’s frustration with Khan’s stand on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The meeting held in Washington has been the subject of intense scrutiny, controversy, and speculation in Pakistan over the past year and a half. In April 2022, Khan was ousted as prime minister after a parliamentary vote of no confidence by the joint opposition alliance. The vote is believed to have been organised with the backing of Pakistan’s powerful military. #imrankhan #pakistan #biden #usa #donaldlu #pti #russiaukrainewar #worldnews #cypher n18oc_world n18oc_crux 0:00 INTRODUCTION 1:55 DID US PLOT IMRAN KHAN’S OUSTER? 3:25 “ALL WILL BE FORGIVEN” 4:25 WHAT KHAN SAID ABOUT SECRET CABLE?
