One of the many interesting cars you can see in action during one of the BOSS GP (Big Open Single Seaters) championship's rounds is for sure the Benetton B197 F1 car from the 1997 season. Actually there are two of them, but generally only one is fielded in the various weekends. To be clear right away, I haven't misspelled the title: the Benetton B197s you're watching don't have their original Renault RS9 V10 engines anymore but instead they are powered by a Judd GV V10. These engines were developed for 2013 as a result of the phenomenal success of the GV 4 engine in the BOSS GP series, having also other competitors running their cars with the GV4 in them (years ago I remember having recorded an old Champcar being powered by a Judd V10 too). Compared to the GV 4-litre, the 4.2 has updated, lighter cylinder heads, twin barrel throttles and a lower centre of gravity. The engine is also 10 kg lighter than the 4 litre version. It's able to produce 775 hp in unrestricted form and rev up to 11,000 rpms.
