Thailand ushers in the New Year with a bang: An explosive fireworks display spanning 1.4 km across the Chao Phraya River bend in Bangkok, including over the famous Wat Arun, or Temple of Dawn. The event organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand was celebrated with 500 shots of fireworks that lasted over 5 minutes. Some spectators said the fireworks brought hope for the new year, while others wished that COVID-19 would be over and normal lives can fully return.
