It's no secret that I -love- Avatar: The Legend of Korra, and I couldn't resist the opportunity to create my own cosplay. My dear friend Aimee Seaver and I sewed different parts of the costume. This was the first test as to whether I could move effectively in what we had created. It works beautifully and is legitimately very comfortable and warm, so my next steps will be studying Korra's movement style so I can replicate it (as opposed to just “waterbending“ in my own personal style.) For the “waterbending“, the rope dart is just a long piece of lightweight silk tied onto my practice head - nothing fancy (yet.) I might do a fancy edited video with more stuff later, but for now, I'm happy just launching this ridiculous idea into the world. Footage by Sterling Bishop.
