Product links ► Further information ▼ In this composites training video, we demonstrate how low-melting point metal alloys can be used as sacrificial cores/mandrels when manufacturing hollow composite structures. The process can be used to produce complex hollow structures, such as tubes or frame components by laminating prepreg carbon fibre around a cast metal mandrel, which is then cured at elevated temperature before the temperature is increased further to melt-out the metal core, leaving the hollow composite structure.
