Full title reads: “Galashiels. The 'Braw Lads' Gathering'. Thousands attend unique & historical festival on the banks of the Tweed.“ Galashiels, Scotland. Two men in civic regalia stand on the flag bedecked balcony of a building. Closer shot as they move inside carrying a flag with them. A man walks out of the building carrying a flag and climbs onto a horse. The man with the flag and a group of companions ride in line across the River Tweed. A large crowd are gathered on the banks to watch this ancient Borders ceremony. The initial group are followed by more riders including quite a few children on ponies. General Sir Walter Maxwell Scott, Lady Scott and others stand outside Abbotsford House, once the residence of Sir Walter Scott. They walk away from the doorway. Drinks and food are handed out to the people on their horses. The riders, still carrying their flag, ride away from the house. At the town cross a ceremony is enacted in front of a crowd.
