Former Louisiana Governor, Huey Long, was once a figure of great controversy and interest. During the Great Depression of the late 1920’s and early 1930’s, Long achieved prominence on a populist and seemingly socialistic platform which advocated redistribution of wealth, and much more. Often portrayed through history as an abuser of power, a misguided but good-intentioned politician, or even an aspiring dictator, there is much reason for the confusion surrounding this fascinating man who dreamed of bringing his policies to the national stage by winning the Presidential election of 1936, but never had the chance.
