Elon Musk is building a giant artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputer cluster called “Cortex” at his factory in Austin, Texas This supercluster is designed to support Tesla’s advancements in Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology and its Optimus robot. The facility will house approximately 100,000 NVIDIA H100 and H200 chips to train Tesla neural networks. The goal is to improve and accelerate learning of Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology, which will allow Tesla vehicles to make more accurate and safe decisions while driving. Tesla also plans to use Cortex to develop and improve its humanoid robot, Optimus. This robot is designed to perform repetitive manual tasks, first in factories and then in other environments.
