Strong Seal Takes On Rescuer In Water

Antoine and Naude from Ocean Conservation Namibia spotted a seal with an entanglement around his neck. They had to be fast because he was close to the water and in the middle of a big group of seals, and the rescuers could have easily lost sight of him. Naude grabbed the seal by his hind flipper, but he puts up a good fight, he clearly does not want to be pulled back on land. In the slow motion, the fishing line the seal dragged behind him is clearly visible. At one point, the seal turned around to bite the rescuer, without success. Naude held the seal down and Antoine cut him loose with his blue Leatherman Raptor Scissors, and he could rejoin his seal friends in the water. The fishing line had not caused any visible injury to the seal, but he likely would have entangled another seal eventually, which is a certain death sentence.
