Schubert is well-known for having written many great melodies, but even amongst his formidable oeuvre Ave Maria is perhaps the most enduring. It's popped up in many shapes and sizes over the years and I've long loved the violin performance by Menuhin and Baller (Menuhin plays the melody in octaves and then 6ths in the reprise which hits hard). I tried to capture something of the spirit of their performance in this arrangement. I've recently been outsourcing the mixing and mastering of my recordings to Nadezhda Podedinova and couldn't recommend her highly enough.
