Having previously discussed how fantasy often exists on the surface of everyday life, and how any one stabilizing fantasy is accompanied by a more traumatic destabilizing fantasy, we apply these concepts to a specific ideological example within racist culture: images of the (black) body in pieces. A historical case proves instructive, especially in how it illustrates how too explicit renderings of a fantasy are rejected and met with disgust.
