When a singing bowl is rubbed, it emits a sound corresponding to the resonance frequency of different modes of deformation of the bowl. Now, we can do the inverse and use that sound to deform the bowl. In this video, a loudspeaker emits a sinusoidal sound that corresponds to the resonance frequency of the fundamental mode of deformation of the bowl. You can see that the waves excitation and the droplets generation are maximized in 4 specific areas along the circumference of the bowl (where the walls are vibrating the most). 2010 - Denis Terwagne (Ph.D Thesis)
