“Highlanders” Circassian Dance Ensemble perform at the Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts The “Highlanders” Circassian Dance Ensemble of the International Circassian Cultural Academy, which is based in Amman, Jordan, will hold a folkloric concert at the Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts at the Southern (main) Amphitheatre of the historical Roman-Greek city of Jerash, Jordan, on 25 July 2017. It is the first time that the “Highlanders” take part in the prestigious Festival, as the two other principal Circassian dance troupes in Jordan, namely, Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed and Al-Ahli clubs, had been taking turns in representing Circassian folk dance at the Festival for 31 years (starting in 1981). Also, this is the first time that two Circassian dance ensembles take part in the same year, with Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed Club holding its show on 30 July. The Jerash Festival is one of the most important cultural and artistic events in the Middle
