John Lane named new Fire Chief

The City of Prince George is pleased to announce the appointment of John Lane as Chief of the Prince George Fire Rescue Service, effective June 1, 2011. Deputy Chief Lane joined the Prince George Fire Rescue Service in 2005 from theToronto Fire Services, and over the past few years has been heavily involved in implementing the Emergency Medical Responder program. Deputy Chief John Lane will take over the post of Chief Jeff Rowland, who will be retiring in late May after a long and distinguished career with Prince George Fire Rescue Service. He started with the City in 1976, eventually being promoted to Deputy Chief in 1995 and then to Fire Chief in 2003. Additionally, to fill the vacancy of Deputy Chief John Lane's current position, Captain John Iverson will be appointed to the position of Deputy Chief effective March 21, 2011.
