ROAD Fighting Championship has announced a women’s openweight bout for ROAD FC 47, set to take place at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing on May 12. RIZIN sensation Gabi Garcia is set to face Russia’s Veronika Futina in an openweight bout. Garcia will be looking to turn around a disappointing 2017, after two of her bouts ended in no-contests and her match with 53-year-old Shinobu Kandori on RIZIN’s 29 December card was cancelled after Garcia missed weight by 26 pounds. Futina trains at the Gladiator Fight Team with Garcia’s former opponents Oxana Gagloeva and Anna Maliukova. The 31-year-old is a Hand-To-Hand Combat Champion who has won the Russia Championship four times, the last being in 2017 and the World Championship twice. She has pursued martial arts since her childhood including judo and boxing. ROAD FC 47 is shaping up as a strong card for the Korean promotion and will see the launch of the 2018 Openweight Grand Prix.
