On the way the driver was talking all the way with Egyptians to tell him what route to take. We all agreed to leave, but then we heard the news that we could head to Nasser complex. Thanks to God, if he (gestures to boy) stayed there, he would have died. I have injured people there, and I call upon you and the whole world to bring them here because it is enough, we lost all our beloved ones.“ 9. Various of injured man 10. SOUNDBITE: (English) Dr. Mohammed Qandeel, director of emergency room at Nasser hospital: “This is a call for human community, please send a field hospital. The field hospital will just delay or decrease the death rate only, it will not solve the problem. The problem will be solved once the fire stops and all the patients at the Nasser medical complex are evacuated outside, because even the medical care inside the hospital now is suboptimal, it is very less than the minimum level.“ 11. Child in hospital bed STORYLINE: Dozens of injured people arrived at Nasser hospital in Khan Younis on Tuesday after fleeing from northern Gaza. Mohammad Abu Jubal fled with his injured daughter from the Indonesian Hospital in order to be able to treat his daughter's eye. “I have been carrying my daughter for the past 20 days, and she had an eye injury, but there are no ophthalmologists in the Indonesian hospital,“ he said. The war has exacted a heavy toll on Palestinian civilians, particularly those who remain in the north after Israel repeatedly called on people to flee south. It’s unclear how many stayed behind, but the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees estimates that some 160,000 people are still in its shelters there, even though it is no longer able to provide services. Some 1.7 million Palestinians, about three-fourths of Gaza’s population, have fled their homes, many packing into schools and other facilities across the territory’s south. As shelters have overflowed, people have been forced to sleep on the streets outside, even as winter rains have pelted the coastal enclave in recent days.
