I wasn't surprised by how long it took me to feel settled. Even though this was a move I was excited to make and I still live pretty much the same lifestyle, moving to the countryside is still a big adjustment. But if there is one thing that never change, it's that when I wake up one morning and feel terrible, I stop and look around: rain pattering on the roof, fire crackling in the fireplace, the bird chirping and flitting outside the window and I hear the voice of my loved ones – and I just know I am home. And I'm reminded that life is, indeed, good. Very good. That it's something worth fighting for.
