Back in May, when in Sevastopol & an air raid siren went off, Elena from Gorlovka (a northern city in the DPR), said, “We’re used to it. Gorlovka is shelled very often, we’re used to it. It’s no longer scary.“ It’s a sad truth & words I’ve heard many times over the fifteen years, in many places targeted by the West & Israel. They get used to the bombs (I did, too...) But Elena also spoke about positive things, the development that has taken place in Crimea since the 2014 referendum to (re) join Russia. Like everyone else I’ve spoken with in Crimea & the Donbass, she rejected the West’s (coping) claims of a Russian “occupation“. “No, it’s not an occupation. People want it themselves (to be part of Russia). It’s definitely not an “occupation” here, neither in Crimea, nor in Donbass. I talk to lots of people here, I’ve got many friends here, and they’re happy that Crimea is in Russia. People consciously went to the referendum when it took place in Crimea.
