Happy Monday Family! We have a Brand New amazing Euphonium Solo with Piano for you today, “The King's Gambit“ by yours truly. This piece was commissioned by Fabien Décaillet as a gift for his newborn son, Alexis. “The King's Gambit“ is aimed at including elements of modern progressive style alongside a more standard virtuosic euphonium style commonly featured in traditional euphonium repertoire. The compositional style focuses on complex and highly syncopated rhythmical grooves with a minimalist harmonic style, found in modern-day rock and pop music. The piece demonstrates extreme range, finger dexterity, coordination of multiple-tonguing techniques, flexibility, and breath control which are normally expected in academic repertoire. The game (and the piece) is divided into three major sections which correlate to stages and specific moves in a chess match. 1) Opening: e5 ... 2) Middlegame, including Queen Sacrifice (cadenza section) 3) Endgame
