60 years later, our Jack LaDuke takes a look at the villages, and many lives, changed forever by the building of the St. Lawrence Seaway. In the mid-1950s, it was considered one of the great engineering feats of its time. The United States and Canada teamed up to build a hydro-electric power generating station and the St. Lawrence Seaway opening shipping routes from the Atlantic to the Great Lakes. But the mega project came at a cost. 6-thousand people lost their homes and communities as about a dozen small towns and villages were flooded out of existence. Jack traveled north of the border recently to visit the historic sites and museums dedicated to the Lost Villages of the Seaway. Learn More:
