This is my progress on building a life-sized version of BB-8 from Star Wars Episode VII. BB-8’s head appears to float on top of a rolling ball body. To achieve this effect, I designed my version of BB-8 with two robots that work together. One robot balances on top of the ball and another, inside the ball, provides the motion. Each robot is controlled by a BeagleBone Black and programmed in Python. You can learn more about this project on Make:
