The first phase of the Chinese Civil War was fought between the Kuomintang led government of the Republic of China and forces of the Chinese Communist Party, between 1927 and 1936. Initially, the two parties were allied against Beiyang government and the warlords, and both received support from the Soviet Union. Then in April 1927 the Kuomintang began the purge against the communists, and in August, the Nanchang uprising was the first major engagement of the Chinese Civil War. The Kuomintang launched 5 encirclement campaigns against the communists, forcing them to retreat to the Shaanxi province in north-west. The retreat, also known as the Long March began the ascent to power of Mao Zedong, whose leadership during the retreat gained him the support of the members of the party. In December 1936, the Kuomintang leader, Chiang Kai-shek, was kidnaped by 2 generals and forced into a truce with the communists, in an incident known as the Xi'an Incident. ------------------------------------------ Voice & editing: Nicolae Bondar (myself) Music: Contact, by The Tower of Light, downloaded from YouTube Audio Library Information Sources: #Founding_and_Sun_Yat-sen_era –Fujian_Soviet 'an_Incident We can stay in touch on Facebook: You can support our channel here: For every video I try to use copyright free images.
