“This is an adaptation of the traditional song, 'Bring Back My Bonny To Me', attributed to H.J. Fuller. I had always known the chorus and one day while singing it to myself the rest of the words came. The melody is so beautiful, the song sings itself for me.“ ~Laura Smith I first heard Canadian singer-songwriter Laura Smith while driving to down Commercial Drive in Vancouver on my way to New Westminster one morning. She was a guest on 'Morningside', Peter Gzowski's CBC radio show. Suddenly this song started and I had to pull over to the side of the road to listen. Then I waited for Peter to say the singer's name. Later that day I found Laura's record, 'B'tween The Earth And My Soul' (1994). It's a good album, but, to be honest, the beauty of this particular song tends to keep me from learning the rest of the album as well as I ought to. Laura's website :
