This is the third part of the Paradiddle lesson series. This time we'll be applying the R=R K concept to our paradiddle and its inversions. If you're unfamiliar with this concept, it's basically a concept you can apply for different phrasing and creativity without changing up the base notation/pattern. In this case whenever you would play the R's in the paradiddles, now you'll be playing R K instead; meaning right hand and bass drum (kick). We're still keeping the backbeat on 2 and 4, ghosting all other notes played with our left hand. Downloadable PDF: - Drum Lesson - Paradiddle Inversion Grooves R=R+ Link to Part 1: Link to Part 2: The Downloadable PDF has the standard Paradiddle as well as the three inversions written as both a Snare Drum exercise as well as the Groove version. I suggest making sure you can play the different inversions hand-to-hand before playing around with them, that way you have a good understanding of exactly what's going on and what the concept of this lesson is, allowing you to apply it to other situations.
