Forever Waits 43:55 #TheDeafeningSilence #postrock Presenting the final chapter in the first trilogy of albums from James Parker's 'The Deafening Silence'. This project was born of insomnia in the wake of poor mental health and personal sadness that for a long time has defined my life. The term 'Deafening Silence' has been used as a metaphor for many things throughout artistic and literary history. The meaning behind the title in this particular project was to highlight that moment of insomnia whereby its late at night/early in the morning, all one wants to do is sleep and forget the many troubles in life, and in these ever present moments the silence of the rest of society sleeping soundly around you is indeed deafening. That being said however, those long and silent nights do allow the mind to wander and process events in life. So, depending on your outlook, silver linings I guess. The recording sessions for the three albums have been mostly completed at unsociable times throughout the night/early morning whereby sleep has seemed impossible and has involved thoughtful composition with freeform improvisation both in equal measure. The listener does not need to experience insomnia in order to feel the portrayed emotions within the albums. The themes, emotional output, and titles of the tracks directly relate to problems and events throughout the recent history of my life. After completing the first 'Deafening Silence' record I listened to it and decided to make two more despite constantly telling myself to take a break from music for a short while in order to focus on other aspects of my life. The decision to do this was inspired simply by the fact that I had more I wanted to express and a larger story to tell. Although, having said that, my story with these albums is truly personal and the music therein has been carefully composed and titled to be completely up to the listeners interpretation. Afterall, we all have so many trials in life to overcome. Some different than others, but we can all emotionally connect on one simple fact in life. Times can be hard. And sometimes it's just nice to connect with someone or something that seems to understand. That is indeed the purpose of these records. The ultimate goal of 'The Deafening Silence', you could argue, is the same overarching goal of music itself in all of it's forms. To convey the artists emotions and see whom can relate to the feelings expressed through the sound. Feelings, for me personally, that were experienced and then crafted into an art form at around 3 - 9 in the morning. I fully intend to return to 'The Deafening Silence' one day. It has been a wonderful, emotional, and genuinely artistic experience for me. I truly hope that it has helped the audience in the same therapeutic way that it has helped myself. But for now, this is the final chapter in what could be argued as the first arch. 'The Insomnia Arch' if you will. I do not know what events will unfold in life to warrant the future return of 'The Deafening Silence', but I do know that it will appear again when it is needed most. When madness seems closer than reality. Have you heard The Deafening Silence... (James Parker)
