According to the China National Space Administration (CNSA), the Chang’e-6 lunar lander has successfully collected lunar samples from the Apollo crater, located in the South Pole-Aitkin impact basin on the far side of the Moon, on 2-3 June 2024. Chang’e-6 used two methods for collecting lunar soil: drilling to collect subsurface samples and grabbing from the surface with a robotic arm.
