Since so many people enjoyed the content from #buffalo lake effect snow, wanted to add a compilation of #atmosphericrRiver events in #california between 2016-2022. This includes the record setting January 2017 #winterstorm that dumped more than 10' of snow in places. #blizzard conditions from numerous events as well as #landslide, #flood and crazy #weather. #cawx Everyone kept asking me to compare the record setting lake effect event to something and it kept reminding me of atmospheric river events in California. Atmospheric Rivers, also known as Pineapple Express is a weather setup in which a channel of deep moisture extending all the way back to Hawaii sets up over the West Coast. This causes flooding at low elevations, big waves along the coast and heavy snow in the mountains. When these events happen over burn scars they can cause #naturaldisasters such as mudflows, debris flows and land slides.
