A staff member at a school in Denver, Colorado is facing felony charges after footage was shared of her beating a 10-year-old, non-verbal autistic boy on a school bus. Kiarra Jones, 29, was sitting next to the child, who was looking out of the window, seemingly minding his own business. Out of nowhere, Jones begins to elbow the boy, before punching him in the head, and slamming his head into the bus window. The abuse was brought to the attention of authorities after the boy’s mother reported bruises on her son. Other parents later said they believed the abuse had been happening for months and with multiple victims. Jones was fired as soon as the school reviewed the footage from the bus, and has now been charged with third-degree assault on an at-risk person. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for next month.
