H.W. Payne demonstrates his cross country running technique. L/S of three men running across a roughly ploughed field. Mr Payne takes the lead. L/S of the men running down a country road then jumping over a large log. C/U of Mr Payne’s lower body as he runs past - seen in slow motion. Intertitles advise the audience on correct cross country running techniques. M/S of Payne running across deeply furrowed field in slow motion. We are then shown how not to do it. Gate vaulting is shown - three different runners are shown to demonstrate the differences in their landings. M/S of a gate, three runners cross the gate. L/S of the three approaching a gate and jumping over. Mr Payne’s technique is shown in slow motion. “And don’t let anything damp your enthusiasm“ reads an intertitle before a shot of Mr Payne and his colleagues jumping into a river and running through it.
