This Galaxie rolled off the line in Los Angeles with the G-Code Thunderbird 406 CID Super High-Performance V8 under the hood. This engine was offered strictly as a homologation special for NHRA Super Stock drag racing. Offered in two versions, this top spec Super High-Performance boasted 11.4:1 compression, triple Holley 2-barrel carburetors, and factory headers leading to dual exhaust. For rated the Super High-Performance 406 at 405hp and 448lb-ft of torque. As expected, the Tri-Power 406 was aimed at squarely at serious drivers.
