Sammy Salvo - A Mushroom Cloud Between 1951 and 1957 the US Military carried out regular exercises at Camp Desert Rock on the Nevada Test Site. Tens of thousands of army, air force and marine personnel would carry out a number of mock offensives into the area of nuclear detonations. It wouldn't be until 1994 when they could admit to being present at the exercises and claim compensation for radiation exposure.
