The Beastie Boys came to California in the early 90’s to record Check your Head. The studio they used, known as G-Son Studios in Atwater Village now houses the likes of Han Cholo jewelry, X-Large Clothing, Mad Decent Records and many other creatives. Brandon Schoolhouse from Han Cholo worked for the Beastie Boys and Grand Royal in the 90’s and takes us on a tour on the historic building. After getting their start opening for Minor Threat, McRad rose to fame in the skateboard world after being featured in Stacey Peralta and CR Stecyk’s 1988 movie Public Domain. The leader of McRad, Chuck Treece along with Ray Barbee and CR Stecyk tell the story of the band and it’s place in skateboard history. Documented by Eric Pritchard.
