On the evening of August 25, a severe hail storm hit the Locarno district in Switzerland. Residents of the district, located near the Italian border, were shocked by the size of the hailstones. Users on social networks reported hail the size of a tennis ball. Numerous damages to houses and cars were recorded. Several people were injured and turned to medical workers in the town of Locarno. The towns of Losone, Ascone, Minusio and Tenero also suffered from bad weather. In Losone, more than 100 school windows were damaged and the start of the school year was postponed to Wednesday. Power outages have also been reported. County officials have activated a crisis management task force.
